Blue Grosbeak

Passerina caerulea

This is a bird that I have been hoping to see for about 5 years, never finding it whenever I visited Southern California. Amazingly, in April/May 2013 Charles van Tassel and I came across them at two locations. I was delighted!

And, in 2015 I found a lone male at a dry riparian area adjoining a date plantation near the Salton Sea. It has very quickly become my favourite Grosbeak!
