The Bee-eaters
of South-East Asia and Australia
These magificent
birds have been life-long favourites of mine. I admire them for
their flight skills, which rather reminds me of fighter aeroplanes,
and their beautiful colouring. They all hawk insects on the fly
and if you look at the Blue-tailed Bee-eater images closely,
you will see one perched next to a wasps' nest and actually have
a wasp on its tail. It will not regard any of that as food. This
collection represents all the Bee-eaters found in Australia (Rainbow
only) and South-east Asia (all others). I was delighted to complete
this collection in June 2008 when I saw my first Red-bearded
Bee Eater in Johore's Panti Forest Bird Sanctuary.
