Borrego Springs, CA is a well-known spot to watch these Hawks migrate in March and April from their wintering grounds in South America, as far south as Argentina. The year 2011 turned out to be a record one for Hal Cohen and his Hawkwatch Team. They counted 8,868 of these Hawks. I was lucky to be there on one of the +1,000 bird mornings.
